About Us
Wimborne District Society of Model Engineers would like to welcome you to our website. We hope you find it informative and easy to use. Please take a minnet to explore the website to find out more about WDSME and the railway we run.
We are situated on the outskirts of Wimborne in Dorset and have been giving rides to the public since 1978. The railway operates between 11am and 4 pm on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month Easter till Halloween, please take a look at the running day page for further dates. Train rides are free to all ages, with a donation box. A picnic area is available for you to have your lunch and a sit down whilst watching the trains pass by.

Don’t forget the railway is now closed for the winter but will re-open in april 2012
We are a small friendly group of members young and old that come from all walks of life and do not necessarily have an engineering background. The club was started in 1975 and from that day has grown into a very attractive little railway. Members meet on Sundays throughout the year to do general maintenance or just to have a chat and a cuppa. We are always looking for new members to join us, whether or not you have a railway interest. Feel free to pop along to one of our running days to see the club in action. The club offers a 5inch gauge ground level track of 1/3 mile which can be seen on our track and signalling page. A 16mm raised track end to end layout, (under contruction) a clubhouse & easy access for unloading of 5” locos to our turntable There is also plenty of features around our layout for everyone to enjoy.
